It’s like a bed of roses…

February 23rd, 2006 at 4:15 pm · 10 Comments

On Tuesday went to see a few bands with Bev at the Joiners, and had a good time. I was very impressed with the red-wine slurping group The Alaskan Pipeline - well talented band and I want to hear more of them, their first track was amazing. Then on came New Rhodes, an interesting lot, whose drummer is “well fit”! Their songs were like Wine Gums - you have a different coloured one and you think it’s going to taste different, but really - there’s not a lot in it.

Morning Runner were a class act, but I can’t help but think they overuse the same lyrics. We must have sang “bed of roses”, “without you”, and “it’s not heaven” more times than I’ve had cold beers. An enjoyable gig, however I think they were taking the mick when they said it’s the most packed they’ve seen a venue before - only because it’s the size of my lounge yes. Anyway it was nice to see Olly making an appearance…

Looking forward to Deal or No Deal on Monday again! No really, I am.

I see you went to MEW! I went to the Bmth gig too. It was FUCKING AWESOME. Guess what? I was right at the front before Jonas, probably less than 3 metres away from him. PLUS after the gig I managed to get a setlist (thank you kind Old Fire Station man!) & the guy at the stand gave me Mew’s Bournemouth poster A bit of smiling and winking can go a long way hehe. The lovely Swedish Perishers were pretty amazing too! They told us they’ve been together for 8 years now, wow. So they have a really tight band. All the songs were great… a nice contrast. xXx

Yeah! Mew are amazing, my mate saw them in Norwich last week, but i couldnt, as was in York. Saw the Go! Team last night actually, it was utter brilliance. They finished with ladyflash and everyone went mad. Thanks for the comment. And yes, arcade fire are the greatest band ever ever…..

Seeing 65 days of static on sunday, you should check them out if you can.

    Peace x

it looks like that you are enjoying your time mate. I just got back from China two days ago. And going to start my career in Sheffield. I miss Bmouth so much, everything from there, of course and you….

Having spent the last 3 days off sick I’ve been picking the lesser of the evils to watch on TV and have for the first time come across the above.

Just wondered where on earth do they find 22 f**wits week after week. For those that know the format there is a very simple formula to follow in order to decide if the bankers offer is fair - add up all the money left and then divide by the un-opened boxes et voila that’s the kind of offer your looking for. The banker will start off by offering about 40% of said amount, rising to 70-75% if the game goes to the wire. There is absolutely no skill involved, just a game of pure chance and yet Noel Edmunds seems to, without fail, convince his obviously lobotomised guests that they are playing with a cunning strategy.

PS - excuse my grumpiness, I’m always like this if I’m off sick.

Haha can’t believe your hooked on deal or no deal… have been watching the aussie version most days without fail (yes I know I need to get out more!). Hope things go well with the new job, and I’ll update my space soon when I’ve got something slighty more interesting to write than saw a possum today. Up the Cherries!
